INTERVIEW WITH CLIFF KELLEY FOR WVON RADIO

Cliff Kelley and Tracey Onyenacho discuss how states are pushing for prison reform in the 2018 midterm elections.

ALJAZEERA’S THE STREAM: CAN US CRIMINAL JUSTICE MOVE BEYOND THE FIRST STEP ACT?

Tracey Onyenacho provides commentary and political critique of The First Step Act in a dialogue with Black Lives Matter cofounder Patrisse Khan-Cullors, formerly incarcerated writer Chandra Bozelko, and The Marshall Project DC correspondent, Justin George.

Thousands of inmates in US federal prisons are hopeful they will be released earlier than they long expected, after a bipartisan reform bill was signed into law by President Donald Trump. The First Step Act comprises some of the biggest changes in years to the US federal justice system, in which around 180,000 of the US's 2.1 million incarcerated population are held.
